The 10 Dirtiest Hotels in Canada

Maybe not quite everything is better in Canada.

Bad hotels are bound to be found anywhere, and TripAdvisor.com’s new 2010 Dirtiest Hotels list tells you exactly where. The site put together a Dirtiest Hotels list for the fifth year, but it’s the first time that it included a Top 10 (er, Bottom 10) specifically for Canada, and two of the worst places — according to TripAdvisor user ratings — are located at Niagara Falls.

The popular tourist site is home to the worst spot on the list, a motel which customers have called “the worst of the worst,” and an “embarrassing dump.” One user reported “Blood in the bedding, spatter across the walls, carpet saturated with black filth, empty beer bottles piled outside the door, discarded rotting furniture at the bottom of the stairs, disgusting odour.”

Air Canada Tops in N. America

It seems the friendly skies have migrated north.
Air Canada was named the best airline in North America in annual survey of 25,000 readers of Global Traveler magazine.
I’ve never flown Air Canada, so I perused the comments section of the survey report at CBC.ca, and many readers were split on whether the airline deserved the award.
After flights all over these great United States, I’d put Southwest among my favorites. But it clearly isn’t for everyone. Southwest ranked seventh among North American airlines. American, Delta and United followed Air Canada on the list.
Some news that also surfaced Wednesday that could signal a quick end to Air Canada’s reign among the continent’s airlines, according to the Edmonton Sun. The airline announced it would begin charging passengers $30 to $50 for a second checked bag on international flights.
